Autumn, Thanksgiving, and harvest seem to happen so suddenly once summer fades away and the leaves begin to fall. I love that we are able to celebrate all these things at once during this gorgeous season. Our patio sees a lot of entertaining and connection with friends during the summer months, and since we love our outdoor space so much we have been taking every opportunity to make it last 'just once more' before winter falls. With a few tweaks to cozy up our yard we are still able to enjoy dinner outside under the light of our string lights, fire pit, and candles. We worked with Guildhall Home to make our al fresco harvest dinner a little cozier and allow our conversation to last late into the evening outdoors. Here are a few tips to extend your outdoor dining season, set up a gorgeous harvest dinner table, and get a peek into our backyard.
- All things cozy: Fire, candles, blankets, + sheepskin. All these elements not only add to the ambience and invoke all the cozy feelings but it will keep your guests warm even in the nip of the autumn air. No one wants to be chilly so we don't skimp on this step. Loads of blankets, a roaring fire, and our patio heater all help.
- Foliage: Don't skip on the flowers/greens outside! I think that being outside allows you to be more creative with your arrangements. Also, it's a little unexpected and doesn't have to cost a fortune. I used Sweet Peas from our garden on the table and tied some eucalyptus branches to hand them from the pergola. Simple, inexpensive, and unexpected. (If you are hoping for a fancier thanksgiving table arrangement make sure to check back for Friday's post!)
- Don't be afraid of glam outdoors: Because our backyard is a part of our living space I never restrict only outdoor things for our patio table/backyard area. I love the idea of using more luxurious textures and finishes outside. Read, metallic, table linens, sheepskin etc. It makes it feel fancy and adds to the texture and beauty of the season.
