YYC Guide // Date Night

I love a good date night.  I also love planning a good date night.  I'm lucky that James enjoys doing the same kind of things I do plus it works well for him because he's not often on the hook to plan a date.  Honestly any excuse for a date is a good one, and around here we date often.  Sometimes it's just ordering in sushi, popping a bottle of bubbly and watching one of our fave shows.  Other times its a good excuse to dress up and get out of the house.  Here are a few of our favourite date nights out in YYC.

Glenbow Museum.  We have had a membership to the Glenbow for years and it's been the best kept date night secret.  We've been able to discover and take advantage of all the events and tours that go on outside of viewing/visiting hours.  A little known fact is that the museum has THE BEST little theatre.  It's like walking straight into the '60's.  They also have a cash bar at the front of the theatre and lecture room seat trays to set your glass of wine on while you watch a film.  We've been to multiple showings at this theatre and it's one of my favourite little spots.  Last halloween we did a behind the scenes tour through their archive storage that was both a little eerie and wonderful. Super unique and we both loved it.  Check out their website and hop onto their newsletter for a list of current events.  Also, this year, Glenbow is offering free admission the first Thursday of each month from 5-9pm so it's a great excuse to plan a visit.

Vertigo Theatre.  You'd be surprised at how many theatres exist in the city.  For every area of interest there is a live theatre project.  Our favourite live theatre is mystery so we often attend Vertigo Theatre.  Ticket are very reasonable and the play is always well done.  When booking your tickets check the third Friday night showing of the play you're going to see.  On that night they host Forensic Friday after the show.  It's a panel of guests and actors from the play that discuss the real-life scenario and repercussions of the storyline of that night.  We've been to Forensic Friday a few times and found it both interesting and enjoyable.
