Deck The Halls // Juniper Garland x Rhosyn

Deck The Halls // Juniper Garland x Rhosyn

Rhosyn is a small business here in Calgary that creates stunning floral arrangements as well as curated, hand-made gift boxes.  I met Erica (the owner) when she created the flowers for my launch party (you can see that post here) and as soon as I met her I instantly liked her.  She's beautiful, kind, and super talented.  When I had the idea of running simple gorgeous green garland down our railing during for Christmas I asked her if she would like to create with me.  Amidst her running a small business and being a mom to three beautiful kids I was so excited that we were able to collaborate on this project.

When I was going through Yoga Teacher Training last year an idea was presented: there may be certain places in the world that work best with your individual make-up/energy.  You know those places you visit in which everything seems to fall into place, you feel the best you've ever felt - healthy, inspired, positive, beautiful etc, the most yourself.  Ideally we'd each be able to live in the places that perpetually make us feel that way.  And, you've guessed it, Vancouver is one of those places for me.

Natural Cold Remedies

Natural Cold Remedies

Being sick is the worst.  This time of year seems to bring out the colds in people.  I was going to say there's nothing like having a cold during the winter months, but really there's no good time to get sick, and colds during the summer may even be worse.  In any case when either of us begin feeling that dreaded scratchy throat, runny nose, or itchy ears we have a natural health care regime that we promptly begin.  As per my philosophy on health and wellness I think it's important to provide your body with what it needs to fight off any illness rather than take meds to lessen the symptoms momentarily.  (Obviously there's a place for said meds too, because let's be honest, relief from that stupid one nostril being plugged for any amount of time can provide a little light at the end of the tunnel.)  Here are the things I keep on hand once those symptoms start popping up, in hopes of lessening the degree of sick.

Life Lately

Life Lately

Happy Friday!  It's nearing the end of Oct. and it's been a long while since I last wrote a "Life Lately" Post.  This time of year is always very transitional for us.  Gearing up for winter is not always easy when part of it requires James to build homes starting in December, which means him working outdoors. As the start date is getting closer and closer I begin feeling an urgency to nest.  Home needs to be a place that is somewhere we want to hibernate for the colder months.  Somewhere that supports health and wellness and wellbeing and that allows James to re-cooperate after each work day.  It's amazing what a difference the colder months can make.  Adjusting to the shorter hours of day-light, the chilled-to-the-bone kind of cold, can all take a toll psychologically, physically and energetically.  This

Wellness // Journaling

Health and wellness are important parts of my life.  It's something I feel really passionate about in myself and others.  I take time to invest in myself in this way often.  Journaling has played a part of my health and wellness routine for a long time.  Growing up I didn't keep a diary exactly but I journaled my way through life.  It was a ritual.  It was therapy.  It was a release.

Binge Watch // True Crime

The weather is cold, it's Friday, and Halloween is a few weeks away.  I thought it would be a good time to share some more of my favourite documentaries.  True Crime seemed appropriate.  I feel like my taste in all shows varies and yet is very specific.  So, we're jumping from inspiring women and fashion (find that post here) right into True Crime. Two of my favourite topics.  (It's okay if you're confused by this. There's no rhyme or reason for taste).  I happen to enjoy a good True Crime flick more than James does but I'm certain that even he agrees that these are worth watching.  I'm including True Crime Podcasts in this list because I've listened to a few amazing ones in the last little while and couldn't not add them.  Plus, once you've started you won't be able to stop.  As the weather gets colder and home seems like the right choice, settle in and get ready for a good (albeit creepy) binge watch.  (Also, don't google any of these or you'll be bombarded by spoilers.)
