July Long Weekend

July Long Weekend

I woke up early this morning remembering that I haven't blogged in awhile and feeling the desire to but also happy at the notion that life has been so full and I've been enjoying summer so much that I just haven't had the time.  Last weekend we spent 3 days in BC, at my family's cottage, with friends.  It was perfect.

Style // Holiday Hair

With the holiday season in full swing there are always lots of events/gatherings/parties to attend.  Sometimes being creative with outfits/style/looks can be challenging.  Since I wear my hair in pretty much the same style each day one of the most noticeable ways to change up my look is to do something different with my hair.  Let me be clear, I still want to look like myself.  I'm low maintenance when it comes to my hair (probably one of the reasons I keep the style similar each day - loosely curled, middle part, and down).  No one knows this better than my dear friend Dawn.  She gets me and she gets hair.  Recently I had an event to attend and asked her if she could help me create a simple holiday hair tutorial that was true to my low-maintenance philosophy and simple inspiration for any holiday look.

Deck The Halls // Juniper Garland x Rhosyn

Deck The Halls // Juniper Garland x Rhosyn

Rhosyn is a small business here in Calgary that creates stunning floral arrangements as well as curated, hand-made gift boxes.  I met Erica (the owner) when she created the flowers for my launch party (you can see that post here) and as soon as I met her I instantly liked her.  She's beautiful, kind, and super talented.  When I had the idea of running simple gorgeous green garland down our railing during for Christmas I asked her if she would like to create with me.  Amidst her running a small business and being a mom to three beautiful kids I was so excited that we were able to collaborate on this project.

2016 Christmas Tree Hunt

2016 Christmas Tree Hunt

Holiday tradition has become increasingly important to us over the last few years.  I think it's really important to establish our own way of doing Christmas as a family of three: to be intentional about how we spend each Christmas and make a point of doing things that are unique and memorable for us.  One of the traditions we began just after getting married was to go on a Christmas tree hunt.  We'd get up early, make coffee, bundle up, and pack ourselves and a good saw into the truck and head to the mountains.  It's become one of my favourite things about Christmas.  I look forward to it and plan it well before December gets crazy.  Our tradition has since evolved and each year we have included good friends in our hunt for the perfect tree.

Entertaining // FLWRS

This post represents three of my favourite things: Sarah, Entertaining, and Flowers.  Luckily for me, Sarah and these two things go together very naturally.  Let me explain.  I met Sarah on Instagram a few years ago.  We started following each other and then eventually decided to meet for coffee.  We slowly got to know each other over coffee dates during the next few years.  At our coffee date at the beginning of 2016 Sarah announced that her, her husband, Sam, and their son, Zeke would be moving back to their homeland - Aus.  Maybe it was the awareness of limited time with each other that accelerated our relationship with them, but within this year Sarah, Sam, James and I spent lots of time getting to know each other and they quickly became very close friends.

Style // Braids

I'm a low maintenance hair person.  Like, as in, I don't own a hair dryer, I use dry shampoo more than actual shampoo, and up until last year I hadn't had my hair cut or coloured in 2 years.  I'd like to now use this opportunity to swear to you that I have very high standards when it comes to hygiene and it does actually matter to me that my hair look intentionally messy and somehow put together.  My hair routine looks something like this: wash/condition 2x/week,  allow to air dry, loosely throw a few curls through my hair, wait until the next wash and repeat.  It's also rare that I wear my hair in any other way other than down or in a high pony tail.  Now that I've convinced you about how low maintenance my hair is.. there are a few hair styles that have gotten my attention this summer and couldn't shake the idea of wanting to give them a try.

#FLEURLAUNCHPARTY

#FLEURLAUNCHPARTY

A few weekends ago we celebrated Fleur's launch.  In planning a launch party I knew I wanted to keep it authentic, intimate, and include the people who really understand and support what I am trying to create.  These friends have spent countless amounts of time listening to me and helping me go through the process of deciding I was brave enough to start Fleur, and then fully supporting and encouraging me when I took the first few steps.
